MY HOBBIE OF READING

DURING MY CHILDHOOD , I USED TO SEE THE TEXT BOOKS OF MY ELDER BROTHER.AND I LIKED THE PICTURES IN THEM BUT I COULDN'T READ THEM.GRADUALLY MY BROTHER TAUGHT ME TO DRAW LETTERS OF PUNJABI ALPHABETON THE GROUND WITH MY FINGERS.ON FIRST DAY OF MY SCHOOL MY TEACHER BECAME VERY MUCH IMPRESSED TO SEE MY ART OF PUTTING PUNJABI LETTERS (GURMUKHI) ON THE GROUND AND I WAS GIVEN A TITLE OF NUMBARDAAR BETTER KNOWN AS MONITER.
MY FIRST TEXT BOOK (GURMUKHI KAIDA) WITH COLOURED PICTURES IN IT FOR ME WAS LIKE A NEW WINDOW OPENING TOWARDS THIS WNDERFUL WORLD.I KEEP MY BOOK WITH GREAT CARE.I WAS KEEN AND CURIOUS OBSERVER TO GO THROUGH THE BOOKS ,SO,I WAS ABLE TO READ AND WRITE BETTER THAN MY CLASS FELLOWS.MY SCHOOL WAS ABOUT ONE KM AWAY FROM MY HOME.I USED TO GO THERE BY WALKING.UP TO MY NINTH CLASS I DIDN'T KNOW WEATHER THERE WAS ANY BOOK AVAILABLE OTHER THAN MY SYLLABUS.THERE WAS NO SUCH INFORMATION AVAILABLE IN MY REMOTE VILLAGE. EVEN NOBODY KNEW ABOUT THE NEWSPAPER OR THE MAGAZINES.IT WAS A LUCKY DAY FOR WHEN AT ONE RECESS TIME I WAS PLAYING WITH MY FRIENDS IN OUR CLASSROOM.SUDDENLY MY ARM STRUCK TERMITE BITTEN ALMIRAH.ONE OPENING OF ALMIRAH THRASHED TO THE GROUND.TO MY ASTONISHMENT A PILE OF BOOKS STARTED ROLLING DOWN THE FLOOR.THERE WERE VERY INTERESTING BOOKS IN THE PILE.AMONG WHICH I CAN REMEMBER WERE SINDABAD THE SAILOR,ROBINSON CRUSOE,BRAVE CHILDREN OF THE WORLD AND SOME BOOKS BY RABINDRANATH TAGORE AND OTHER I DON'T REMEMBER.WE ALL FILLED OUR BAGS WITH ALL THOSE BOOKS .DURING MY UNIVERSITY STUDY I WAS REGULAR VISITOR TO THE LIBRARY AND PUNJAB BOOK SHOP.I PURCHASED AND READ A LOT OF BOOKS INCLUDING PUNJABI CLASSICS,RUSSIAN LITRATURE TRANSLATED IN PUNJABI LIKE GORAKI'S MOTHER ,LEO TOLSTOYS, ANNA KEIRNIENA AND MANY MORE.AND NOW I HAVE A BIG COLLECTION OF SUCH GOOD BOOKS WHICH I HAVE TO CARRY ALONG WITH ME AT MY DIFFERENT POSTINGS. IF I HAVN'T GOT A CHANCE TO READ ALL THOSE BOOKS I MUSTN'T BE ABLE TO WRITE FOR THE NEWSPAPER AND TO ADDRESS YOU.

THANK YOU FOR SPARING YOUR PRECIOUS TIME FOR
GOING THROUGH MY BLOG.I ASSURE YOU TO GIVE YOU
VERY HONEST WRITINGS IN FORTH COMING DAYS.
HOPING FOR YOUR VALUABLE COMMENTS AND
A NICE RESPONSE.
ALWAYS YOURS
